Issyk kul: north or south side?

Hi everybody!
this is a question about Issyk kul lake. Which is the best side to do either some excursion and to relax & take a swim by the lake, the north side or the south side?
Any suggestions about where to stay: Cholpon Ata, Bokpnbayevo?

Hi I stop a couple of days around Bokonbaievo in May and I can only reccomend it.

There you can swim in the Issyk kul, in a small salt lake, do horse riding, visiting canyon, hicking,.... very nice place!

I would avoid Cholpon Ata (and its turists, especially from Russia and Kazakh) in Summer....

I've never stop on the North shore but it should be the best place if you want to meet some tourists.
The South one is less visited but should be find to be in remote places...
