Dear all,
I would like to have updated news and details about the possibility to travel from OSH to KHUJAND and BACK without crossing the uzbek enclaves...it it possible? how much will it cost on public transportation? I know it will be a bit time consumpting.
In previous posts I read that it should be possible top do the road in segment like follow:
1) Osh to Kyzl Kia
2) Kyzl Kia to Kadamzhai
3) Kadamzhai to Chon Kara
3) Chon Kara to Batken
Googleing I checked the part of the segment 2) is crossing the uzbek territory bu not checkpoints are detected.
Has any of you travelled through this segmented itinerary?

One last question: when I come back to Kyrgyzistan, do I need another VISA? will they release me at the a land border?

Thanks anyone reading and answering this post.

A taxi or a private marshrutka should be a better option.
Ask to the driver to avoid the enclaves.
Normally, all drivers want to avoid them. Corrupted cops...

Thanks Mvbergen,
But do you suggest me to do for the whole route or just for the segment probably crossing the enclave?
Are transport frequent in that area?

Hi,

It's possible to reach the Tajik Fergana from Osh but why do you want to coming back by the same way?
"Your driver" will avoid the enclaves. By security, ask him to avoid them. It's doable.
Shared taxis are the best option to move around.
I was in Kyrgyzstan in 2007 including Osh and the (Kyrgyz) Fergana and last year (spring) in Tajikistan including the valley of Fergana. I didn't cross the border but talked to some taxi drivers.

Just a thought...We travelled from Osh to Khujand on 30 June 2014 and sailed through without issue. We travelled via minibus 537 from Osh to Batken, then a shared taxi across the border to Isfara and another shared taxi from Isfara to Khujand. The bus route passes through Uzbek territory for about 20 minutes. There was only one checkpoint and we were waved through after the bus driver showed ID or whatever was required. The border officials clearly saw us as foreigners on the bus but there were no checks or need to show passports.

Thanks Rozellekate!
Do you have any info more about costs and times?
How long does it take from Osh to Tajikistan?
And where is the border point to Tajikistan? I already have visa for Tajikistan luckily.

Bus from Osh to Baken was 290 KY som/ticket and took about 5 hours (in an ancient van - it would be much faster in a taxi). The bus leaves at scheduled times (including 10am) but get there early if you want a real seat!

Someone can find you a taxi from the Batken bus station to Isfara, although the proper taxi area is outside the public administration building about 1klm away. We paid 300 KY som for the car. The border (about 10 minutes drive from Batken) was a breeze - total trip time to Isfara was about 45 minutes. You have to get and walk two very short sections to do the passport checks.

Shared taxi from Isfara to Khujand was easy to find in the Isfara car park area and took about 1.5 hours. We paid 20 TJ som/person. The car stopped about 7k from the centre and we were "persuaded" to pay another 15 for the trip to the centre (total 55 TJ som for 2 people).

Hope this helps!
