Anyone know the name of the local tour agency that Explore uses to travel from Kyrgyzstan to China (Kashgar) and back again?

Almost certainly Kubat Abdyldaev in CBT Naryn- kubat-tour@mail.ru .

He works with Johns Cafe in Kashgar.

He is a good bloke

I believe you are thinking of Ian Claytor and his Celestial Mountains Agency., which has guest houses in Bishkek and Naryn and provides trips from Naryn to Kashgar, including a visit (or an overnight, if you like) at the 15th cent Tash Rabat caravansarai along the way.
