Excerpt from an LA Times travel article.
Quote

From here, eternity: Hiking may be the best way to hear Kauai's mountains. The trails of Kokee whisper secrets about the flora, the fauna, even life itself.

By the time we reached the summit, a denuded crown no larger than a pitcher's mound, we were spent. To the north lay the expansive Kalalau Valley, a complex watershed of steep fluted ridges, red cliffs, waterfalls and jungle extending 4,000 feet below us and running less than a mile…

Where can one find good beaches for swimming in California and how far north can one reasonably go? I've heard the water is on the chilly side and may not be possible to swim in northern California, around San Fransisco. Is this just a seasonal thing or all year round in some places? And is the water much warmer in Los Angeles or San Diego? Any advice appreciated.

I will be moving to hawaii in sept. We know nothing about it. Is there any places that we should stay away from living and is there any places that are good for living? We are looking for a non tourist area. Secluded, quiet, peaceful....yet it has to be close enough to drive to employment. Any suggestions? Any help? Anything would be helpful weather you live there or vacationed there. Thank you!

Terri

A few questions about NYC, hopefully someone can answer some of them:

1. Is it true that (casual) clothing and electronics are (much) cheaper in NYC compared to Europe (Netherlands/Germany?)
And if so were to look for normal casual clothing

2. Is it fun to rent a bike in NYC to explore the city one day?

3. What is a good club (age 25-35) to spent one or two nights, were it is easy to get in in normal clothing

4. Some advice on pubs (Manhattan area) where there is something to do between 19-23 hours…
