Most Australians I've met are really cool and are treated such. But if you are an ass, you will be treated accordingly. Just leave the Vegemite at home...

Most people will think you're a Brit. And when they find out you're from OZ, they will ask if you knew Steve Irwin.

Waitstaff will flee, because Australians have a (deserved) reputation for being stingy with tips. See FAQ post 146: "Foreigners: The Minimum Acceptable Tip in the U.S. Is 15%"

Aussies should avoid Oregon, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Maryland. They should also avoid certain parts of Alabama, New Hampshire and Arizona. I can give specifics if you're planning on visiting any of those 3 states...
