As silly as it sounds YOU MAY have a problem,I have over the years attempted to use an expired PP for cashing a check (one time the PP was only expired for a month or so) it was not accepted ,I tried another ban they also said NO,I explained that I am still the same person and that the expiration should have nothing to do with that fact, they said sorry "it"s not a LEGAL ID" using that logic the visa may be invalid also as it was issued on that PP which is now invalid, check before you go

#10, you can't use an expired passport as an ID anywhere. The visa is still valid.

A simple google search turns up this from the US Embassy in Germany. OP, you have nothing to worry about.

As I said in my OP, the immy dude(ess) is God. The less reason you have to piss one of 'em off-or even draw thier attention to you in any way-the better. I was once detained in Canada for 3 or 4 hours on what apparently was a whim or a hunch on the part of the immigration officer. Not a thing I could do about it but stick to my story, since it was the truth. I was eventually allowed in to work.

I'd update the visa into the new PP.

#11 Good info, suggest the OP copy that page to show if needed. But I still scratch my head why an expired PP cannot be used as a ID only.Is there any logic to that that I am missing?
