Hey #1, it looks like Route 66 to Muir Woods only runs from May-September.

Is that right or is there Spring shittle service as well? All the info I found suggests this is only a Summer program?

Hope not! : (

I'm not sure, #10. I'm also not sure that what I wrote in that FAQ entry is the only way to do it. You might try calling some of the entities behind those links and seeing if they can tell you how to get there.

Thanks, maybe I will... I'm probably just gonna skip it this trip though. Seems like it will be a huge pain in the ass and a bit rushed for a weekend trip anyway. Too bad.

I haven't been to the city since I was 15 and so I'm sure there's PLENTY to see without leaving SF proper. I'll head down to the library tonight and get the DK guide to the city (sorry LP!), that should keep me busy.

Thanks again.

Regarding Fort Cronkhite:

On Sundays only, you can take Muni's 76 Marin Headlands bus to Ft. Cronkhite. It runs every hour, takes 45 minutes from downtown (25 mins. from Ft. Mason), costs $1.50, and includes the remarkable vista looking down at the Golden Gate bridge towards the city.

In my experience, places which serve Mexican food and cater to Mexicans open pretty early, like 8am, so your chances of finding an El Salvadoran restaurant open early and serving papuserias are good.

Try wandering down Mission or Valencia from about 16 to 24th.

Thanks #14 & 15 : )

I'm definitely gonna check out Ft. Cronk(h?)ite then.

I can't wait! Haven't had even a weekend vacation in over a year now!

It's about time!!

A good number of Salvadorean restaurants also feature breakfast menus, so you might be in luck. The best resource for finding out is Chowhound, as the SF board gets more traffic than any other city aside from NYC: http://www.chowhound.com/boards/1 Make sure to specify SF, though - the best concentration of pupuserias is debatably in the East Bay.

If you do want to venture into the East Bay looking for pupuserias, I know a great one, and it's as close to SF as you can get. Take any Bart train heading to the East Bay, get off at the first station, West Oakland. There is one accross from the west end of the Bart parking lot, across 7th St. (can't remember the name!) There's nothing else to do in this neighborhood, but I can recommend it, and it is only 10 minutes from downtown SF

I might have to do that.

Man, I’m practically obsessed with the idea of eating pupusa now! And I haven’t even tried them yet!

I just found out from a friend at work that I can get them here in San Diego and I think I might go tonight!

PUPUSA MANIA!

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
