1) Is it possible to reach Muir Woods or Ft. Cronkite by public transportation? If so, is one easier than the other? Can anyone suggest a route for me or give me directions on how to get to either or both places? If possible, an estimate on how long to get to each would be helpful too.

2) What time does the typical Pupuseria open? I’m hoping to try some for breakfast one morning.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  1. Your question is answered in the second-to-last paragraph of FAQ post 207: "L.A. to San Francisco Via Public Transit"

    2. I don't have a clue, possibly because I've never heard of a "Pupuseria." Is that a kennel limited to dogs less than a year old?

Thanks. I’ll go in to the FAQ and get that info.

Regarding the pupuseria though, it’s a restaurant that sells/specializes in “pupusa” the El Salvadorian food pictured here.

There are supposed to be a lot of places that sell them in SF and, having never tried one – I’m quite anxious to have a taste. There are just so many other places I want to try that I thought I could have pupusa for breakfast one day reserving my lunches & dinners for the places/cuisines I’m more interested in.

Can't say what time they open, but there's many Salvadoran places in the Mission District

I've never heard of a "pupusa". Try a search on sfgate SF Chronicle

and Golden Gate Transit will take you over to Muir Woods.

Perfect. I’m planning to stay there anyway so that could work out.

They don’t seem to be a very breakfasty food though so I’m just hoping I can get them before 10am??

Not everybody eats breakfast like us Americans do either. We’ll see, I guess.

Thanks for your help, everyone.

(if anyone does know for sure one way or another though – about the pupuseria’s, feel free to chime in at any time : )

“can pupusas be a breakfast food?”

Not by most people’s standards, I’m sure – but for me, heck yeah!

I love salty savory foods for breakfast. Sometimes I have curry for breakfast. Today I had chicken, green chile and corn chowder with bread. Hell, I’ve eaten a cheeseburger for breakfast. I’m kind of a freak though : )

i just tried to look it up, based on the location, i think it might be panchitas restaurant, at 3091 16th. if not, there are other pupusas in the area. i remember the food as tasty tasty, but drinking seems to make crap food taste better too.

You could be right. I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about Panchitas on Chowhound so sounds about right if they were really that tasty! : )

Nobody seems to know when these damn places open though – and I surely won’t be eating the continental breakfast served at my hotel… YUK.
