Once upon a time there were some Thorn Tree posters who thought it would be fun to meet face-to-face instead of face-to-screen. And so they did. And it turned out to be so much fun that they did it again and again and again.

It has been much too long since the last one so, here’s to another Thorn Tree meet. Everyone is invited. If you live in the NYC or the NY area or if you're zipping through on your way to some other place, come by.

Come share a tale or two, get info on the next place you plan to wander in, share some laughs, hang out and have a good time with fellow travelers.

When: April 17th at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Life Cafe, 343 East 10th St/Ave B, NYC Phone: (212) 477-8791

We hope to see you,
Wanderlust2 aka Ani.

If you plan to attend please post here.

Dammit, Webs! I hd hoped with this much advance notice most would be able to make it. Is it absolutely impossible to change plans at your end?

Yes. It's a family event, out of my control.

Sorry, a bit late because I always travel by bicycle...
Maybe there's a European branch for a fiesta like this possible!?

Gonna try to get there... never been to one of these and it sounds interesting!

Sounds like fun. Will there be a prize for the most amount of miles traveled to attend (although I'm not traveling just to attend - I'm already here for a visit)? My last weekend in NJ but I always wanted to go to one of these so I'm going to try my best to show up.

trapperchica, rowbare and anyone else who has not been to one of these...

It is completely informal. You can order food or drinks or none if you so prefer. I will be there at 6:30 but people trickle whenever and we stay until whenever. The latest we stayed was 4 am - unbroken record to date.

Ani.

I think you need some assistance from the DownUnder Branch to get these things happening.

Firstly, we propose a Piss Up more than three weeks out, and secondly we leave a window of about three weeks to pick the best date (to avoid the Websterella Syndrome). Then we have 250 posts to decide the date, another 250 to decide the venue, and then a further 250 to diss the decisions made in (a) and (b), and then another 250 to speculate and gossip about who's turning up, or who's not.

Then finally there will be a big bunch of posts post-PU - providing closure - describing who got in the bag the most, and who was last seen wobbling through Chinatown with a couple of Yankee sailors on shore-leave, or pole dancing on the pool table.

The thread is usually just as much fun as the gig ... but I hope the NY one goes well.
