Hi Team,
I am going to Hawaii with my partner for 12 days in August and would like to hit the best hikes, and possibly some volcano viewing if possible. This won't be our beach trip, that will be next year.
Can you advise the best islands to focus on for day hikes with a 12 day window?

Volcano National Park is still closed and likely to remain so for some time but you could maybe visit Haleakala on Maui which is dormant.

Kauai has very good hiking, but the famous KalalauTrail is closed due to massive flooding last month so you cannot drive past Hanalei. But you could hike up in Waimea Canyon and Kokee State Park, Sleeping Giant and others.
