From toronto to Boston, if by air? How much and what would be the cheapest airline and booking site?
Is there any public transportation between them?
Thanks.

Airplanes are public transportation. Trains would be CP Rail and Amtrak. You'd have to take CP Rail to Montreal and transfer to a New York train. In New York, you'd take an Amtrak train to Boston. This would take a long time. Greyhound also does the route. Takes about 18 hours.

For trains and buses, the schedule and fare information is available by looking up the CP Rail, Amtrak and Greyhound sites on the Internet.

Willy, you mean VIA Rail (viarail.ca) - CP is a freight line. There's actually a direct train from Toronto to NYC (the Maple Leaf) where you'd catch a train to Boston. About 11 hours for the first leg, 4 for the second.

Bus, train between Boston and Toronto are not really feasible IMHO.
American and Air Canada are the airlines that run that route. Air Canada codeshares with United and in my experience the United tickets are always cheaper. RT is about $250US when you are lucky, about $300-400US most of the time, and $600-700 when you have to book it on short notice. Check it on kayak.

If it is possible for you to get to Buffalo, you might want to check out flights from there to Boston. I always find it cheaper by a couple of hundred CDN to fly BUF-ORF(Norfolk) than out of YYZ. But I do have a husband who doen't mind dropping me off and picking me up and we live closer to the border, in Burlington. Or you could easily drive it in under 10 hours!
