Hello,
We are going to Florida in April and are wondering if it is possible to catch some sort of a ferry (or even a cheap flight) to go to the Bahamas for a day or two?
I have tried to Google it and read something about a CAT-ferry that has stopped running. Any other options for us? I would assume Nassau would be less expensive to go to than other parts? I realise that Nassau is expensive and probably less interesting but we just want to spend a day or two so I don't really mind what island/town we visit..
Thanks in advance!

If you're just looking to go to an island, as opposed to the Bahamas specifically, maybe consider the Keys.

WHERE in Florida? It's a big place. There are multiple flights each day from Ft. Lauderdale & MIA variously to Nassau, Grand Bahama & Bimini.

Anywhere in Florida. We are flying to Orlando but will rent a car and see most parts of sourthern F.
Thanks - we'll look into the flights. Will definitely also go to the Keys.
Nassau is plenty interesting, but it's Freeport that's closest. The cheapest flights would be packages geared toward gamblers.
If you have time to spare, I would recommend heading north to visit St Augustine (oldest town in America!). Also, if you go a little further north you'll hit Amelia Island which is a historical place and has a nice downtown (full of victorian homes!) with shopping, restaurants and night life. i think some cruise lines offer one night cruises to nassau out of miami or ft lauderdale. otherwise, there are fairly cheap puddle jumpers over from ft lauderdale. however, unless you are very interested in casino gambling, i wouldnt waste my vacation trying to get over to nassau. there are far better things to do in florida, including a trip to the keys if you want a bit if 'island' atmosphere.....
