Hello from Mexico- we will be leaving Mexico in a month-say mid-march-heading through Juarez-ElPaso and into New Mexico. We need to spend some time in NM before getting to Montreal May 1st. Can anyone suggest something, someplace warmish on that route? We were thinking of Las Cruces. Thanks for any help you can provide . We have been in Mexico since Dec. 7 and have loved it-are now, once again , in the Colonial Heartland-Queretaro, Guanahuato, then up to Zacatacus, Durango and the border.

Go west from Las Crices to Deming and then head north and follow signs to Faywood Hot Springs. hot springs pools out in the middle of the desert. There are cabins available to stay in or perhaps stay in Deming. SOme of the outdoor pools are clothing optional. I was there a few months ago.

March at the 3500' elevation Rio Grande Valley can still be chilly, especially nights, and often quite windy. Bring a kite.
As you go up in elevation from there, it gets colder.
As you now plan on Durango...I suggest continuing on the 45 to Parral & the 24 to Cuauhtemoc.A little side trip would get you into Creel.Perhaps a drive or bus down to Batopilas or Urique, where its warmer, Or a trip on the train, to El Feurte & return...Any way, continue on the 23 0r 28 to the 10 to the 2 E.This will have you crossing at Palomas. One could do the Deming area or Better, (I feel) Truth or Consequences. From there The Interstate of your choice to the deep freeze...carracar
