Doesn't seem to be great options for transfers from Detroit Airport into town. Does anyone have any tips on how to do this with public transport? Taxis/Ubers seem to be $30+ each way. Thanks!

Where are you trying to go? Downtown? Suburbs?
Uber/Lyft are probably your best bet or taxi even though they are expensive. Outside the baggage claim at McNamara Terminal on the other side of the pickup lane near the rental car pickup spot there is a board that lists prices to nearby locations by taxi. There are some bus services to downtown Detroit or Ann Arbor. These can take some time though.
