Hello,
My brother and his girlfriend (Both Australian, Both 21) are going round the world in May, during this time they'll make a stopover in the US. Mainly LA, Las Vegas and New York.
Now while she's off shopping my brother wants to go shoot a gun!
Whats involved with squeezing off a few rounds? Would an Australian passport provide ID? How much will it cost?
Las Veags might be the place to do this - so any more info would be great!
Thanks guys!

My wife and I did similiar 2 years ago on our RTW trip. we fired guns in Vegas, all you needed to show was your passport. Afraid I couldnt tell you what it was called but was reasonably near the strip.

Got to Coney Island and for a small price you can fire a paintball gun at a real human being (i.e., the geek).

Check out The Gun Store Las Vegas.
Went there last year, near the strip and great fun! You can fire anything from hand guns to semi-automatics. Passport ID is fine.

I can't tell you any names of places, but all of the major cities have gun ranges. Look in the Yellow Pages, which is a phony book directory of businesses that you'll find in your hotel room.

yeah, there's shooting ranges, both indoor and outdoor, in the vicinity of most major cities, and many smaller ones. They have various guns available for you to rent, and you purchase the rounds there. costs vary on what type of gun you rent. but most ranges will charge a basic fee for the facility, which depending on where you go can cost from $10 to $20 or more, a gun rental fee, again this varies depending on the place and what you rent, but places i've been charge about $10 to 15 for a medium handgun , and then the cost of rounds for that gun. you also have to purchase safety glasses and ear plugs if you didn't bring them, but they're not that much. i seem to remember spending, in total, just for a basic handgun somewhere in the range of $65 for two people shooting a box of 40 rounds. last time we went shooting, my boyfriend tried out the S&W 500, which has the largest rounds for a handgun, and rounds were $2.50/each. gets expensive shooting. what they have available will depend on what is legal in that state, so yes, nevada would have a wider range than california. Some gun ranges, if neither of you have ever shot before, may require a brief safety lesson.
