Hello can someone please help me as a little confused. Me and my partner have an around the world ticket so all our flights on the same ticket. At the end of our trip we fly to LAX then Vegas Nevada then to JFK then back to UK. I see that they charge $25 for 1st bag then $35 for second bag....I'm so confused is this per person? Is this just applicable to check in luggage? Or hand luggage? We have 1 backpack per person and 1 carry on suitcase per person. Any clarification on this would be great.
Kind regards

It's per person, per checked bag.
If you are two people, and you check two bags, it'll be $50 ($25 for each of your). Be sure that you put each bag under each person at check-in, so you aren't charged the higher fee for a second bag belonging to one person.

Will that be all one trip so that you check your bags all the way from Los Angeles to UK? If you plan to make a stop for a day or two in Las Vegas or a few days in New York City you'll be charged that fee each time you check your bags. Some other airlines (Delta for one) have raised the checked baggage fee recently.

If you don't know where you're going, how do you know when you get there?

Be mindful of size and weight as well:
Your personal item must fit under the seat in front of you. Dimensions should not exceed 18 x 14 x 8 inches (45 x 35 x 20 cm ).
Carry-on requirements: Shouldn’t exceed 22 x 14 x 9 inches / 56 x 36 x 23 centimeters (including handles and wheels)
Must fit in the sizer at the airport
Soft-sided garment bags up to 51 inches / 130 cm (length + width + height) can also be taken as your carry-on item.
Checked bags: Up to 50 lb. Some overweight charges differ between departure/destination points, but generally apply to checked bags over 51 pounds.

You might do some very careful packing, so that you can check just one 50 lb. suitcase for the both of you. You're allowed one "personal" item (see dimensions), which I usually consider my daypack, and one carry-on (see dimensions). Each of you are allowed the personal and carry-on. Last airline I flew with had a very restrictive weight limitation, and I wore two outfits to save on capacity and weight. Instead of your backpacks, maybe get some other baggage style at a thrift store or such, to be able to pack all your stuff into the allowable baggage. I hope you don't need a lot of cold weather items since they take up a lot of room - wear that too.
