Hey guys!

Me and girlfriend would like travel in the USA for about 5 month in the USA with a Campervan in October this year.
I've a lot of concerns regard this trip, as it requires a lot of preparations and ofcurse, a lot of money.

So lets proceed:
1. I'm planning to live in the Campervan - is that really that organized in the USA? are there many parks for Campervans? Are those safe to sleep at? Can I part the Campervan in the cities as well if I've where to stay?

  1. Should I buy a Campervan or rent? I've found renting will cost me about 10,500 USD for the whole period, while buying an old one would cost about 8000 USD which later I can sell, what do you think?

  2. Is that a good season to start traveling? if so, where should I start and where should I go?

  3. What is the daily budget I'm gonna need for a couple? We attend to cook more, and ofcurse will sleep most of the time in the campervan.

Will be happy if you can give me some useful tips for this big trip!

Kind regard,
Marco.

Don't go to the US from October through February in a campervan ... you'll freeze your toes off. Start in April.

And for five months I would buy one (a very small one) and re-sell it at the end.

You will need a B1/B2 Visa to do this.

To buy a VAN I need B1 / B2?

No, but to be in the Land of the Free for five months you certainly do.

Yes, I know I've a limit for 3 month's, thus I will have to do leave to Canada (which I want to visit a bit as well) and then cross the border once again to the US.

Can you estimate daily living (minimal living) without accommodation?
Would you consider traveling in Campervan safe in the US?

Thanks a lot!

I have bad news about Canada ...but I'll let you look that up yourself.

How much intercontinental travel have you done so far?

2, South America 4 months and Thailand and Philippines for 3 months.

What are the bad news about Canada?

Under the VWP Canada does not count for resetting the three month clock ... you have to leave all of North America. What will you do with this van while you take off for Peru for a month?

I see friend,
That is a real problem...

Resetting three month clock means I've to spend 1 month in other country which is not in north America?

Not necessarily a month, but certainly not in North America. Tahiti looks nice.
