25 Days In Alaska, Anchorage to Seattle

There are information and support forums for the Alaska-Canada Highway (Alcan) - which is the way you would go if you do not or cannot use the Marine Highway (ferries), at least as far as Watson Lake, and then on to Prince George, and heading to Seattle.

Yes, the Mile post guide is useful for a "smell the flowers" trip ... Plan a provisioning stop at White horse & continue on the ALCAN with stops, to a pause at Laird ,hot springs. On our RV tour, we opted to divert on the 29 to the 97 into Prince George. There, we followed the 16 "Yellow head" into Jasper & the "Ice fields Parkway" to Lake Louise ... For this "Parks"portion you will, need reservations for the RV... The 1 then, to the 99 passing Whistler & Squmish to Van. Happy trails ... carracar

It's also possible to go from Lake Louise to Kelowna, and then head south via the Okanogan Valley, then North Cascades NP, and into Seattle that way. All scenic.

How long is this RV? Important for certain roads. 25 days is not that much time, your covering a huge amount of ground, a lot will just be driving and enjoying the scenery.

Assume you have unlimited mileage on the RV so your budget of $160us a day for 2 will work.

Some rental places don't allow vehicles on gravel roads. The Denali Highway ( Hwy.8) and Top of the World Highway ( Hwy.9 ) are good gravel roads, IMO.

It's about 2400 miles to Seattle (more if you go via Lake Louise) - would you want to have to average more than 150 miles per day? If not, that's 16 of your days allocated. Still time left to visit Denali and Kenai Peninsula, and staying on the bitumen.

Yukon and Alaska ferries can handle any size RV.

25 days will pass quickly but one idea would be to take the RV from Anchorage down the Kenai Peninsula first. Take a trip to Seward - see Resurrection Bay , Exit Glacier, return to the hwy and stop in Kenai-Soldotna , continue on to Ninilchik, then go down to Homer and stay the night on the ocean.
return to Anchorage and head north direction Fairbanks, on the way see Talkeetna , possible Denali flight but likely over budget, Denali Park , return direction towards Anchorage but head east to Glenallen passing the Matanuska Glacier , Wasilla would be a good place to stock up on groceries at Carrs/Safeway
...a possibility would be to head south from Glenallen going over Tompson pass to Valdez - beautiful scenery , waterfalls etc, the end of the pipeline is at the terminal across the bay from Valdez. - a ferry terminal also in town
likely you would head north to road to Tok and start down the AlCan HWY direction Whitehorse - (another possibility would be to take the top of the World road up to Dawson City Yukon) you get ferried across the Yukon River at Dawson free of charge by the Yukon Hwy Department- this could be an interesting diversion only
from Dawson head to Whitehorse (the AlCan Hwy has a bridge over the Yukon near Whitehorse with a nice place to stop and rest - I often take a swim in the Yukon from this rest area)
Kluane Lake is beautiful stop over also
Watson Lake sign post park is kinda interesting - people leave signs there from home towns etc
Liard Hot Springs is mentioned by carracar - good suggestion but in the summer it is rather crowded
BC ha some beautiful scenery - just see how you want to spend your remaining time and money

I endorse Milepost- one person can read while the other drives. Also Liard Hot Sprigs, a provincial park right on the Alaska Highway. Be advised that the roads are two lane blacktop, and the 100km/hour limit in Canada is enforced as are the 60-65 MPH limits in Alaska. You will be drivig in teh consruction season. The Milpost notes in red where consatructuin is expected.
