| elder1820:30 UTC20 Mar 2007 | My wife plans on interning at the Library of Congress for one month this summer. The biggest obstacle in our way is finding a place where she can live for that month and not end up in the poor house. Does anyone know of any inexpensive and above all safe places she could or should stay?
Thanks!

There are furnished short-term apartments (e.g., corporate apartments) in the area. Lots of people work in DC on short term contracts, internships, etc. I stayed at the Oakwood Apartments in Southwest (not too far from the LOC) for a month or so several years ago.

With all the Smithsonian Museums on the Mall, the LoC, EPA, dept. of Agriculture, and the like all in the same area, it shouldn't be difficult to find a nice furnished studio or 1 bedroom apartment in Capitol Hill area...

I lived in DC from 2003-2006 and found my place on craigslist as well as subletted on Craigslist...not much use to you - but we had a great furnished place very near LOC so places do exist :)
