Doing Visa while in a Foreign Country

Country forums / United States of America / United States

Hey all :-)

I'm probably traveling to the US this year for studying PhD (with F-type students visa). I'm Egyptian. I'm asking if it would be possible to do visa requirements to travel for study to Australia or Japan while I'm in the US - or is it only possible for me, as an Egyptian, to do the visa requirements while I'm in Egypt?

I don't know the situation in Japan, however in Australia the general visa-application requirement is that you be outside Australia when you apply (there are a couple of exceptions), but you are not specifically required to be present in your country of citizenship at the time of applying. Obviously you will need access to all necessary documentation, wherever you are.

When you are in the US, if you have any further questions, there are Australian consulate offices in a few major cities.

Thank you Jingili for your very helpful information :-)

You will probably get the best answers if you ask on the Northeast Asia (for Japan) and Australia branches. People here are mostly familiar with how to get a US visa, not how to apply for visas to other countries.

Ok, I will. Thanks :-)
