Colorado or Nevada ? carracar | 1
If it's Colorado, all I can tell you is that it's just a suburb of Boulder with some New Age trinket shops and young girl beauty contests. | 2
Oops, I meant suburb of Denver. | 3
OP, if it's the Nevada Boulder City, it's Las Vegas without the mega-resorts, gambling, glitter, glitz, girls, retirees, conventions, and tourists. I think it used to be "dry" too. You drive between Las Vegas and Hoover Dam through the place. It is a "historic" town only because it was the construction camp for the crews that built the dam. The government built it. While the feds ran it, it resembled a medieval monastery except that the guys didn’t wear habits. Other than its connections to Hoover Dam, there's not much to see there. 80 years ago, it was a patch of desert. | 4
If it's Colorado, you can go to one of my favorite restaurants: here. | 5
Boulder City NV was never a monastery like place, save that it was dry for decades. Families lived there from day 1, kids'nall. There was even a discreet cat house until recently. My grandfather owned the first house built there, which was the "hut" the "6 Companies" surveyors used to map out the project. We sold it after his death, in the early 1980s. The architecture is a "Fred Flinstone meets the 50s" thing, and is kind of interesting. Other than that the town has a real main street and some nice parks. Not much to it. The desert around it is fascinating though and worth some hiking if you ahve the time. | 6
