Hi,

I´m planning on visiting one of the petrified forests in Patagonia (either near Sarmiento or Puerto Deseado) on the way down the east coast, but they both seem hard/expensive to get to according to the guidebook.

Can anyone tell me their experience of visiting one of these?

Thanks
Mark

Does anyone know if this airline( Wayra Peru ) is up and running. I read that as of Nov. it was still was down. If so, does anyone know of another airline that flies to Talara as that is the closest airport to Mancora.
Thanks for all your help.

Headed home in a few days and need to buy a few presents for friends and family. Not looking for anything specific, just the usual t-shirts, food, and crafts that are Colombian. I no longer have my Lonely Planet so asking for recommendations where to shop. Markets, department stores, etc. My friends and family will be very happy if you can give me a couple of recommendations so they get some decent questions.

Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Santa Marta? And some characterful (& decent) restaurants in the area? Beyond the beach, what is there to do there?

And would anyone have recommendations for their favourite spot for fruit juice, or arepas or coffee (for instance) in Cartagena?

Many thanks!

A word of warning about La Casa Chueca which earns a surprisingly gushing review in the latest LP. The main caution is that where LP lists single/double/triple with bathroom and breakfast as US$22/30/36 respectively that is not per room ... it´s per person! Throw in lunch and dinner, which you may well have to since the place is a fair way from any significant shops and restaurants, and as we found out, two people are looking at around US $100 per day. And that´s not all ... Tempted by the jugs…

Good folks of the world!

hey i've tried searching but it doesn't seem to work. Anyways, are there actually any hostels in Caracas or just cheap hotels. I've been told the "Backpacker Hotel" is a good option but i really don't like the cheap hotel feel. So any info on an actual real hostel would be appreciated...

Gracias y que tengas una buena tarde!

A big hello from Ecuador!
I´m currently travelling in South America and Bolivia will also be on my itinerary.
I´m wondering if anyone of you can recommend a good tour around the salt flats with starting point in Uyuni and ending in Oruro? We´d like to avoid the night bus from Uyuni to La Paz that leaves Uyuni around 8 pm and arrives in La Paz 10 hrs later. Also we´ve heard that it can be quite hard to get tickets for this bus. Is my information correct?
Would be great if you could help me on…
