We are leaving for Argentina and Uruguay and would like to buy a used guide book or trade with someone. We live in Viña del Mar, Chile and we will be in Mendoza around the 1-2 of March. If anybody is interested, we have the Chile Lonely planet as well as the Footprints guide book. Thanks

Does anyone have any knowledge about transport between these two places. The bus ride seems very long. I know if I take a package tour, the trip to las Lenas is 4 - 5 hours. Is there a company in Mendoza that would take us there and back?

Also I am trying to get information about booking a stay at Las Lenas this August and the email address on their website is not working (mailbox is full). Any suggestions?

does anybody have an idea how long it´ll take by bus from Santiago to San Pedro de Atacama. It´s not given in the guidebooks and I´m wondering if I´ll sit my butt to sleep while the trip.

Apparently some bus companies leave you the choice between a ticket with or without "seguro" (which is about 10 percent of the ticket price). Any idea what this exactly involves?

According to a message posted here on Feb 4-07, it said that Canadians must pay reciprocity fee of CAD $132 when entering Chile by air, but NOT when entering the country by land. I have enquired about this through the Chilean embassy in Canada and they said the reciprocity fee applies to both air and overland when entering country.
