I was wandering if anyone has any recent experiences of car hire and driving in Peru?
Nothing dies on the internet and we've really struggled to fine up to date or accurate info about everywhere we've been in South America so far. Fed up of wading through irate opinions from people who did a bus tour five years ago and think they're experts!
We have driven extensively overseas (including borneo, south africa, Columbia, brazil...). We tend to avoid cities (apart from pick up and drop off)…
Where do I get a bus from the Santiago airport to the Parajitos (?) bus station? And what is the cost? Also, are there ATM's in the airport?

Can anyone recommend a clean quiet non=party hostel in the vicinity of Avenida de Mayo and 9 de Julio? My at this point vague plan is to visit Buenos Aires for seven to ten weeks this coming March to May, stay in a hostel briefly, and then find slightly more permanent digs in Boedo.

Hello, anyone on the ground in Ecuador have any updates on the current situation? I'm set to arrive this coming Monday. I'm not concerned for any safety reasons but obviously it looks like transportation will be an issue. My only immediate concern is getting from the airport to Quito as I've read the highways are blocked. Any updates are appreciated!

By the end of november, I'll be travelling around northern Argentina and Chile and would like to start my trip in Asunción. I'll be with my wife and 7 y.o. son and we have only 10 days to cover Asunción to Antofagasta.
Does anyone know if there is a better way to go to Salta than taking a bus to Corrientes and, then to Salta? Is there any interesting place to stopover in-between the 2 cities in order I do not travel for around 20 hours?

I'm wondering if traveling to Peru in February would be a good idea. I live in the northeast US so would love to get out of the cold for a bit. How rainy is it there in February? What's is like in February in Lima? Cuzco? Macchupicchu?
