Has anyone visited the Celendin Sunday market? Does all of the action occur very early in the day? Does the market run all day? We were thinking of making a stop there between Cajamarca and Leymebamba. We have a couple of choices on how to do this, What do you all think?

1) We could arrive in Celendin on Saturday evening, see the market on SUnday morning when it opens at 6 30 am, then catch the bus to Leymebamba at 8 am. (we want to travel in the daytime to see the scenery). OR

We are a family of three travelling in Peru right now and plan to be in Cusco later this month. We would like to do a trip into Manu for about four or five days but haven't booked anything.

Has anyone here ever booked something like this in Cusco?

We have spent hours looking online but the prices seem really high, the websites are badly designed and often not updated for years. It seems that it would be best to wait until we get to Cusco. We are also thinking that there must be some good…

Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with travelling from Cusco to Salta by train?
My boyfriend and I only have a couple of days to do so (1-3), and would love to go by train through Bolivia (we don't want to miss out on the beautiful sceneries). Is this possible in any way?
If so, where do we book it and how much will it cost approx?

Or would you rather recommend to go by flight?

Thank you in advance!

Hello - We are planning a trip to Peru in late August. We have heard great things about the 360 degree view trains to/from Machu Picchu and how amazing the scenery is. We are trying to make the most of our time in Peru. We would like to take one from Machu Picchu. Logistically it would save time for us to take a train from Machu Picchu to Ollantaytambo. However, we have heard that the scenery from Machu Picchu to Cusco is beautiful. Does anyone know how the scenery would compare to just…

I am flying to Bogota, Colombia (leaving from London but stop over in Toronto) and I get in at 21.30 (assuming no delays etc). I am due to meet my friend in Medellín the next morning and so the plan was to get a night bus. As best I can see the last night bus is at 22:45. I have never been to Colombia, but does it seem likely / possible I will be able to get through immigration and baggage and make the 12 minute taxi ride to the bus station as well as then getting checked in there in 1 hour and…

Hi,

We're a family (2 adults, 2 children - 8 & 10 years old) planning to land in Buenos Aires around September 25th and return back home around the first week of November.

We were thinking about starting from Buenos Aires, visit the Iguazu falls, spend some time in the Mendoza area and then head south to Bariloche and the Valdez peninsula. Then go south to El Calafate and maybe Ushuaia (if we have enough time). Then, we will fly back to Buenos Aires and catch our flight back home.

The…

Hi, I am going to Bolivia in June, and have my flight to Rurrenabaque already booked. I have a week there, and out of that I want to go on a 4 night/5 day combined jungle and pampas tour. A lot of people are saying it is much cheaper to buy a tour there, based on international agents charging a lot online. However, I have found a local tour with Indigena and it seems a very fair price to me at $410 for the 4 nt/5 day tour jungle and pampas. Does anyone know if it would be massively cheaper…

Trying to decide whether or not to get our Machu Pichu tickets with mountain or without. One of us is an 8-year-old. I have seen several descriptions of this hike as "good for children and older people" but when i look at the actual hike it sure doesn't look like it.

Have you done this hike with a kid ~8, who is a relatively strong hiker?

Also, it looks like you are not allowed to bring food or drink into Machu Pichu. Is this only true for the citadel itself? if we did this hike, would we not…

Has anyone had a problem booking your tickets through the govt. website for Machu Pichu? The site keeps denying our credit cards even after calling our credit card company to see if there is a problem.
