Hi there,

My partner and I are spending 6 months in South and Central America from middle of September onwards. We think we want to start in South America and want to kick things off with a month or so chilling out in one place, ideally a beautiful beach.

Our ideal place would be:
- Spanish speaking (so we can work on our Spanish)
- Relatively cheap
- Not too busy
- Good swimming (ideally no rip tides)
- Beautiful nature

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated!

Olly

I would like to start a three day/two nights-tour to Salar de Uyuni on the 28th of June. I have been in contact with Uyuni Expeditions for this, as they have got good reviews and also offer a mid-ranged option with private rooms (basic) with bathroom and max 4 passengers per vehicle.
I travel alone and they need one more person to sign up to start the tour. So I hope someone else is interested?
It is their Auka Runas Uyuni – Uyuni Tour that I am interested in doing. The tour is $387 + $45 for…

Hi all!
My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Peru this summer, and our highlight is trekking, preferebly independetly (e.g. without a guide or porters). We´re pretty experienced hikers, we´ve been hiking for many years now in the Alps, Dolomites, Capatians, Himalayas etc.
I´ve found some contradicting information about the safety aspects of independet hiking in Peru - we´re mainly worriend about the human factors, it´s our first time in south America and we´re a bit concerned.
Is it safe…

My husband and I are taking our 12 and 10 year olds to Columbia for three weeks at the end of July/early August.

The plan is to fly into Medellin, where the kids will do a week of language classes, while my husband works and I explore the city. We are just looking into schools now, but I'd love to hear if you know a good one.

Then we fly to Leticia for four days boating on the Amazon. I usually arrange trips when I land in a place, but if you know a good person or place to contact, please…

On my way home from Bolivia I will have a 13-hours stopover in Lima.
I had one many years ago too, and at that time I spent 5 hours in the historical centre.
Two years ago I visited Peru again and at that time my journey started and ended in Lima. I stayed in Miraflores, visited the historical centre twice, saw Museo Larco and visitedPachacamac.
Do you have any recomendations for a place to visit/something to do during my stopover this year?

We would like to travel from Salta to San Pedro de Atacama in November. Does anyone know if buses run daily then? The last post on this was 5 years ago so I would appreciate a more recent view. Thanks
