I came into Caracas from Miami yesterday and filled out the Immigration form and the Customs form, both of which were taken from me when I passed through into the airport. I asked a security guy just before the exit doors from Immigration if I should have been given a Tourist Card (as has previously been the case) and he said it wasn't necessary any longer. I sure hope that is true!

Has anyone else flown in to Venezuela lately and not had to have a Tourist Card?

Hi!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a Hotel or Posada in Mérida not too far from the center (Av. 8 or 7 would be great).
I will be there in early April and I´m looking for a nice place (in the range of 60 - 120 bolívares) where I don´t need to ring the bell or knock the door to wake up someone to open the entrance door for me.

Is there maybe anyone who´s got the same flight to Venezuela (28.03.2008 Düsseldorf-Madrid Madrid-Caracas) reading this?

Stefan.

Hello
I will be travelling solo through Venezuela from early May for around 4 weeks. I had planned on doing it independently but am now wondering if I should prearrange something through a tour company. Can anyone offer advice on;
1. Is Caracas a safe city to arrive in and visit solo?
2. Is it worth booking a tour once I arrive in the city or should I do beforehand? If so are there any conmpanies recommended? ( have looked at Tucan tours)
3. Is Los Roques worth visting if you are flying solo or is…

Hi
I'm travelling to Venezuela in May for 2 weeks, to Angel Falls and the Orinoco Delta. I'm hoping to bring my digital SLR and a couple of lens. I have a Lowepro Slingshot 200 bag for them. My question is, with the type of travel I'll be doing (with a lot of it by boat) has anyone any tips for keeping the bag watertight?
Thanks

Hello!

I'm seeking information on the Venezuelan national music education/youth orchestra system ("El Sistema" or "FESNOJIV"). I may be heading to Venezuela in June in order to study and research this program's methods and successes (as well as some spanish immersion!) and I'd like to find some contacts and organizations that could speak with me or use my volunteer assistance. Does anyone on this forum have any suggestions?

Anywhere in the country is fine. No tourist needs. Thanks so much…

My husband and I are thinking of traveling to Venezuela for the month of May. I just have a few questions still lingering after doing some online research:

  1. How easy will it be to get around the country on a budget. I'd love to check out the falls, Parque Nacional Mochima, Roraima, etc. We will be on a budget though and from some people's posts it sounds like some of these sights are quite expensive to reach. Could you please post approximate costs and your experiences reaching these and…

Hi,
We are planning on travelling to Venezuela for the month of June (honeymoon!). We'd like to do some surfing and also maybe charter a boat. Any suggestions on where is good for surfing and possible charter companies?

Also, how safe is venezuela these days? Is there much corruption and paying of bribes?

Thanks in advance!
Deirdre

I will travel in Venezuela during late Feb and early March. I plan to take Angel Fall, Roraima Climb and Gran Sabana tour, but I found online that all travel agencies require at least 2 persons... I am short on time, so probably can't afford to wait there for a tour. I plan to book everything in advance.

Any experience about this?

Thanks.
