Due to the high volume of messages I have been getting lately on whether it is possible to get buses on Xmas Day or New Years day I have decided to write this post.
Night buses will run up until December 23rd, therefore there will be no night buses on Dec 24th nor on the 25th. Service will be renewed on Dec 26th. The same applies for the New Year: night buses will run up until December 29th, therefore there will be no night buses on Dec 30th nor on the 31st.
As for daytime…
san gil in colombia or Merida in Venezuela for an adventure trip with good nightlife??
which one is best in your opinion? im not sure which one to go to but my decision will be based on what offers the best activities,costs and nightlife!

Just wondering if anyone has attended any good Spanish schools in Caracas in the recent past? Im looking to study Spanish for a month, maybe two, and would like to attend a good school and more importantly, in a good area. Im going to be staying in Altamira during my time there.

Myself and 4 mates are heading to Venezuela on 29th Dec and want to find a good place to party over New Years Eve. We were originally going to Caracas but all accounts suggest this is a no no for 5 drunken irish guys so we are looking at margarita for 3/4 nights. Can anyone let me know:
a) where is the best place to go on the island for good partying
b) Any suggestions for places to stay? (preferably mid-range or up to $40 a night but budget is fine)

What is the best/safest place to change money at Maiquieta Airport? I read about car rental agencies. Do their employees change money for you? I live in eurozone. Is it better to bring dollars or should I be fine with euros?

As I am planning to spend 6 months in South America I decided to buy/ rent a car in Venezuela-as I will start and end my trip in this country. I was told that in this country the paper work does not take much time. Does anyone know the procedure of buying or making a renting contract with a person? What kind of insurance is neccesary?

has anyone ever stayed at hotel Altamira, Caracas, Venezuela?
hotels seem to be pretty expensive but this one looks quite cheap in a relatively safe area and close to the metro, shopping district and nightlife venues.....
any opinions on the hotel, the general area and things to do around les mercedes/Altamira area?
