Hello,
I am looking for recommendation of some reliable and good "agencia" organizing treks to Roraima (probably from Sta Elena).
How much does it cost nowadays (with camping equipment rented, 5-6 days, transport&food included)?
Thanks!
Pedro

PS:
I did it already 7 years ago, when the choices were few, however, it was quite cheap at that time (probably around 300usd per person). The trip was organized by a traval company owned by a nice german guy, he rented us all equipment necessary (tents, sleeping bags - all new or in excellent conditions), drove 8 of us in two 4x4 from Sta Elena to the indian village and than we went up with a local guide and couple of porters. excellente experience and value.

Hello PeterdePraga,

There are now a few companies running expeditions to the top of Roraima and back and prices are standard. Maybe just a slight difference. You can expect to be paying around US $ 350 if travelling in a group of at least 4 departing from Santa Elena de Uairen. All camping equipment, all meals, porters for camping equipment and english speaking guide included. I strongly urge you to travel with companies who provide portable toilets as they then take human waste back to Santa Elena in order for it to be properly disposed off. Human waste has become a big problem in Roraima over the past years due to the increasing number of visitors. This hazard is polluting the Tepuy's environment so we strongly urge you to travel responsibly. In addition, we urge you to hire services from those companies that hire the local Pemon Indigenous people as part of their staff. That way you would contribute to the local economy of the Pemones, most of whom live in abject poverty.

Have a great trip.

Travel safe,

All the best,

Thomas
