Hi travellers !
some advices about money & change in Venezuela.
1. never change money one the street. its really dangerous.
2. if you use your creditcard you will be chareged always by 1US = 2,15 BS or 1 Euro = 3,00
its not recommendable to use the creditcard because of a lot of shops misuse you creditcard details.
3. look for posadas or back-packer hotels with european owners. they mostly know to help you with money problems.
4. if you are looking for nice spot to stay and plan your journey, think about El Yaque, Isla Margarita. cool surfspot, nice and clean posadas. recomendable El Yayque Motion in the entrance of El Yaque. Mike, the owner, will help you with all problems about your travel and money problems. ( El Yaque is the only place in Margarita with a private security in the village)

Was in VZ 2 weeks ago - I changed at 6K per USD. The rate was as high as 7K. A reliable driver or coach company can change for you. You can also change at the Airport but you will likely not get the going parallel market rate.
The country is very expensive at the "official rate' and quite affordable at the parallel rate. I didn't feel much danger but heard lots of stories.
