currently i am in colombia and want to get into venezuela to the coast to some surf spots... but i heard from another traveller that there was the aftershock of the large haiti earthquake and not too good to go right now..
is anyone at the coast there that can say if it is still ok or stay away from that area??
thanks!

Venezuela is too far from Haiti to be affected by the earthquake. It's on another continent.

Right, therewas a little earthquake in Venezuela last week, but we are not having such an emergency situation, everything is running normally, desite political issues, ha ha. Just come and surf.
There have been several earthquakes in Southamerica in the past days but none to worry about. Media is making buisness with the paranoia of the people, thats all!

I'm not sure a battalion of Marines would suffice for that and our American cousins are somewhat busy elsewhere at present.

According to President Chavez, the USA are threatening Venezuela with their earthquake weapons. He also warned that the new president of Chile plans to attack Venezuela.

Awesome! How far can imagination go through?!!!!! Ha Ha Ha Ha...
This is said in Venezuela: "perro que ladra no muerde", it is, "barking dogs don't bite"... Chávez is not as brave as he uses to show himself to others... Concerning the US, we don't care much, just a nice holiday destination or a cute fantasy place where to live and go shopping... even for the new rich Chaveists, who claims to fight against such a horrible, tiranic empire... sounds ironic.
Theses beeen just earthquakes, and chaos/conspiracy theories are not important issues in contrast with Haiti people tragedy. We Venezuelans have big troubles and a deep crisis... but Haitians need everybody's help now... and who knows? how long from now on? Nothing everyone of us can do could never be enough, however the most important thing is our contribution, no matter how much or who.
