I'm flying with a girlfriend to Los Roques for 3 days. Any idea how much bolivares should I bring with?

We fly back home in 3 hours after coming back from los roques so spending the rest of bolivares in the airport beside the departure tax would be a problem.

I've already paid for posada with breakfast and dinner and for the flight. So basically our expenses would be just a snorkeling trip, some cans of coke and maybe a dinner in a restaurant. So I'm interested how much are these things there now. Price in bolivares please.

Is it possible to change dollars or pay with dollars there using a good (blackmarket) exchange rate?

Thanks!

I brought bolivares to Los Roques, but I know the rate for changing dollars was not as good as on the main land.

I visited in June 2008 (so it is almost a year ago) and this is what I paid for a few things:
1,5 litres of water: 5 BsF
lunch and pepsi (at Las Brisas): 29 BsF
beer (at a bar by the sea): 6 BsF
boat trip to three islands: 120 BsF
snorkel equipment for the boat trip: 35 BsF

Thanks, a lot! The prices were exact the same!

I can add, that it was possible to change dollars in Los Roques. Rate was 5 Bs.F. for 1USD. Couldn't find any better.

Hola La_grunge,

My advice is to take some sandwiches for lunch to those islands you may want to visit. Even though it is slightly more expensive, try to get to those islands furtherst away from the Gran Roque such as Cayo de Agua, Dos Mosquises, Crasky or Espenky among others. They are definitely the nicest. Those closer to the Gran Roque, where all the posadas are located, are very nice too, but more often than not, have a greater influx of local and foreign tourists.

Have a great trip!

Travel safe!
