My flight arrives at 2.30 pm on a Sunday in Maquieta.
How feasible is it to get a flight the same afternoon to Los Roques? Anyone know which terminal the el sol flights leave from?
I'd also like to change some money.

Is this to ambitious?

I think it is a little bit ambitious specially given the fact that there may not be a flight available for the same afternoon... I would try to get a ticket beforehand.

You could change money in the official changing houses (there are several on the intl arrivals), or you can try to change "under the table" (with a much better exchange rate) with a local taxi driver... it depends on your spanish.

The Los Roques airplanes depart from the national terminal, a good 5 minutes walk from the intl arrivals.

Take care,

My last year´s experience was that Los Roques flights only depart in the morning.
If you want, ask for Luis, he´s usually working in a small office quite close to the first entrance of the national airport (coming from the international one), you see "HELICOPTEROS DEL CARIBE" above the office. Greetings from Stefan from Germany. He can also help you to change money at a good rate and you can trust him.
I will go there in march and also would like to continue directly to Mérida, but I´m afraid that I also must spend a night in Catia la Mar or somewhere else close to the airport. To buy a ticket in advance is a bit risky because you never know if your international flight will arrive in time and last year the queues at customs were very large.

Stefan.

Thanks for that.
Luis sounds like a good person to know. That is a great help.
A friend tells me that there is an Aerotuy flight leaving at 4 or 4.30pm. So it may work out the same day (if I'm lucky). Shall try to keep the bag down to hand luggage to get out more quickly. Why did it take ages at customs?

Is Maquieta airport the main airport in Caracas? I arrive in Caracas on the 8th August and tat Luis (like green6ean says) sounds like a good person to know and I'd really like to visit Los Roques, do you know how much they charge? Finding it difficult finding a price list of any sort anywhere!
