Canaima (Angel Falls): direct flight vs river trip from Kavac

Hi Andrey,

It all depends on when you are travelling. For example if you are travelling in the dry season it would prove difficult to do the 6 Day option since you would have to do it in a group to reduce costs end even then the rivers may prove to be to low to navigate on. Even the 3 day option may prove difficult. You have a better a chance of doing either option if travelling in the rainy season. You may want to consider the 3 day option and do a full day tour of the Kavac caves from Canaima, that way you could do both in a shorter period of time. Nevertheless, your second option is interesting.

I know this can't pertain to your post in 2009, but I would officially NOT recommend EcoAdventures (www.adventurevenezuela.com). We went with them to the Orinoco Delta. They had us arrive at 6:15 yet were not given any breakfast until we had arrived in Tucupita and been "handed over" to the people who would take us to the camp. We bought breakfast and some drinks at the gas station where they filled up before we left C. Bolivar and there was no mention of breakfast or drinks to be provided. From our (and anothers) talk with the owner of the Orinoco Queen (our campamento), Eco Adventures keeps 50-67% of the money they collect. In exchange, they provide cattle herding shuttle between their office and the boat loading area. They mention all food, alojamiento, juice, water, etc. is included and it was, but we started at 6:15am the first day (but werent given anything to drink or eat until after 10 that morning) and we got back between 3 and 4 pm on the last day, but were only served breakfast. The owner of the Orinoco Queen told us that Eco Adventures called him that same morning at 5am for the reservation (and the same for another tourist who booked with them and arrived the next day), yet our ticket said Orinoco Queen on it. I felt this very presumptuous on the part of Eco Adventures. The owner of the campamento mentioned how he dislikes working with them. I enjoyed the tour of the Delta, but Eco Adventures part as an agency I found to be way below professional.
