buying plane tickets in Venezuela?

I will be flying into Caracas and then to Isla de Margarita for a week before traveling on to Merida etc. I prefer to finalize my itinerary once I am there and also I have heard it is less expensive to buy tickets once I am in Venezuela instead of online. Is this true? If so is it better to buy them at the airport in Caracas or the same to buy later on Isla de Maragrita? Ideally with black market exchanged cash... Any information/ experience would be helpful.

Also, how are the buses in Venezuela? I might consider taking a few days to get to Merida by bus.

Wondering around Caracas I came across a travel agent and asked about a destination. It was too expensive but I got a real good deal on 3 days on Margarita, with flight, transfers, accommodation (in a chalet) and food. Buses on the island are OK. More like Mosquito island as the sun goes down.

12-14 hours overnight by bus to Merida, as I just answered someone else who asked that question:

I always buy my tickets the same day at the airport except fridays or when there are special days.

Buses are very modern and charge reasonable prices. Just bring your winter clothes with you, when travelling overnight. They have A/C and are insanely cold. I'll never understand why they just can have them at a normal temperature...

Hello,

Night buses are a good alternative to flying, especially if travelling to Merida, Cuidad Bolivar or Santa Elena de Uairen from Ciudad Bolivar or Puerto Ordaz. You may purchase flights in Venezuela upon arrival and pay for them in Bsf after having exchaged your US $ at the parallel market rate.
