Hi!

I'm heading to Venezuela in July and wanted to know what a reasonable daily budget may be on average. I'm just looking for an idea for basic costs so not trips etc, so food, accommodation, drink.

I understand that money need to be changed on the black market and that the rate to the dollar is about 8 to 1.

Any help will be appreciated!

Cheers!

David

I could say budget varies depending on the city you're in. Major mainland cities such as Caracas, Valencia, Pto. La Cruz and the likes are somewhat expensive while small towns tend to be cheaper.
In Maracay, where I live, a room might be 200 BSF or more per night, food might be some 200 more per day (I usually pay 30 BSF for two fritters and a glass of juice at breakfast) and drinks? Do you mean booze or something useful for hydration? A bottle of water is about 4.5 BSF and the cheapest beer at a liquor store is 3 BSF (Beer is usually less expensive than soda). These are raw estimates, so as I said before, it varies from place to place.

David,
It's always good to check the forum before asking, this post is fairly recent:
