Hola!

I am in Colokbia now and want to go to Venezuela,I think by bus. Does anybody know whether the bordercross is save? I contacted my embassy, they told me it is more safe to take the plane from Bogota to Caracas. Does anybody have experience with crossing the border to Venezuela? I was thinking about the bordercross at Cucuta, because i am coming from Bogota.

I hope you can help me!

Best regards

Hi. Venezuelan-Colombian border has its most active point right at Cúcuta - San Antonio point. It's pretty safe due to the live relationship and trading between both towns. Some children even live in San Antonio and go to school in Cúcuta, thus they cross the border daily. Some times, one coul find some kind of strike or jam, but that's normal.

You could travel by an express bus from Bogotá to Caracas, and you could also go through Cúcuta, cross the border with local transportation or a taxi or on foot, and then continue to travel by bus from San Antonio to any other town in Venezuela. DON'T forget about stamping your passport, both your exit from Colombia and your entrance in Venezuela.

Keep on the track of newspapers, in order to be up to date about situation in the border.
