ATM or Changing dollars in the black market?

Does anybody have any up to date info on the black market rate for Boliveras?? I am going in about 3 weeks and don't want to get ripped off.

Nicklynd; I was there in mid 2011 and it was 8 to the dollar. You will quickly catch on, just trade small amounts at first and ask around. Are you familiar with the process? You can ask pretty much anyone in Venezuela to trade money, shop workers, your hotel, random people on the street; its very bizarre.

nicklynd - i have read on some other posts that it is a bit higher now maybe £1 = 9 Bs, it depends where you go in venezuela ! from experience east and south of caracas the exchange rate seems to be more generous maybe 8.5 Bs to one dollar whereas maracaibo and the west toward colombia maybe you get a fraction less..

make sure to pay for tours bus fares flights in Bs if you can rather than $ and dont bother really taking euros or english pounds in venezuela. hope this helps, i leave for caracas on august 22nd for 11 weeks so let me now how you get on..
