Hi all

I've spoken to numerious travellers over the years and I occasionally here the mention of local wildlife being caught and sold in local markets. My question is how prominent is this throughout South America? and if so what countries in particular? Is it a common sight for a traveller to be walking in the markets and seeing a monkey for sale or a Tucan?

I am planning a trip throughout South and Central America at the end of this year and I feel most uncomfortable with the thought of seeing captured animals in the marketplace for sale. I wish to get some adivce so I can better prepare myself for this. Any first-hand advice from travellers would be welcomed, cheers!

never saw any of it, but who really cares?if it upsets you don't go to markets.they would probably be shocked to see you shagging in a room shared by other people. 3 ways to ensure the aussie flag flys itself
1. supress an indeginous nation in a way far worse than apartheid in south africa
2. be loud and obnoxious in all hostels and countries you travel too
3. make a man that taunts defenseless animals for the fun of the public your national hero(is this any different from what your getting at in your post?)
(i'll add another, keep a little british flag in the corner of your flag, just so everyone knows your just a big state belonging to britain)
