weather and guide book

Hi:

I will be travelling the beginning of December. Do I need warm clothes. I hope to go to Cotopa or Puerto Quito before I leave on THE MARYANNE.
Does anyone recommend any particular guidebook.

I have been happy with the new Rough Guide (can I say that here!!!) And of course the Lonely Planet.... Yes you need warm clothes for the Andes!
