| kyleericcrim06:23 UTC01 Jul 2007 | A quick correction to the information in Lonely Planet Ecuador--It lists the ecolodge Rumi Wilco as being 30 minutes from town--I can attest as a 6 time visitor (obsessed?!) to Rumi Wilco that the first 8 cabins where 99% of backpackers stay, are only a 10 minute walk, if you have heavy bags you could get a taxi probably for less than $2 there. There is a "pole house" which is another 5, but 30 minutes is just in need of correction.
The only challenge of getting to the Ecolodge is a sloping yet stable footbridge. I fully recommend it by the way, it is $6/night, includes shared kitchen facilities and I always had a private room at least. It is a place for tranquility and bird watching, and some nice hiking in the reserve there. Happy travels!
