Trekking El cocuy and los Nevados

Hi :)
I am going to Colombia next week, and mostly interested in trekking. Can anyone give me some information about El Cocuy and Los Nevados?
I understood the 6 days circuit in El Cocuy is closed, but what about shorter hikes (3-4 days)? Is it possible and recommended in this time of the year? I find different info on different web sites..
How is Los Nevados comparing to El Cocuy? Is it more recommended for this time of the year?
Do I need a guide to any of these hikes, or can I find maps in Bogota/ El cocuy?
I am well experienced, I have my own trekking gear (including a 2 ppl tent) and also looking for hiking buddies.
