Traveling to Buenos Aires - Maybe Looking for a Buddy

Country forums / South America / Argentina

Hi -

In the fall my roommate will be studying in Florianopolis, Brazil. My plan is/was to go visit her sometime in October, leaving on a Friday from New York and traveling to Buenos Aires until probably Wednesday, then on to Floripa until Saturday or Sunday. Unfortunately, my travel mate bailed on me and none of my other friends seem to be up for the adventure/willing to spend the money to go. I don't really know that I want to travel alone, although I hear it can be a great experience.

I guess what I'm looking for is someone to travel with, even if just for the BA portion of the trip. Anyone have any suggestions for how to go about finding a new travel mate? I've never had trouble getting people to go along before so I'm sort of new at the whole meet random people thing.

Ciao.

I just wanted to encourage you to not give up your plans for lack of a travel mate. I've traveled several times on my own and just recently got back from a trip to BA and other parts of Argentina. Honestly, even though I don't speak much spanish and the city is very chaotic, I've never had an easier time traveling alone. And if you can remain somewhat flexible with your own plans, you're likely to meet someone else in a hostel that you can pal around with for a few days or more. I would highly recommend staying at Portal del Sur Hostel in Buenos Aires (website) since it has a great atmosphere for solo travelers looking to meet others.

Traveling alone is intimidating but is SO rewarding. Go for it!

I hate traveling with people.

Why:

1) you have to make compromises and do what other people want to do
2) you will bicker with them
3) you wont meet as many people.

What you should do is come here alone and start chatting. You will meet other travels. They will tell you where they are going next and you will say...OHH!!! IM GOING THERE! Lets travel together. Shazam.
