Quito flights (group)

Country forums / South America / Ecuador & the Galapagos Islands

Hi, does anyone know the cheapest/easiest way of getting from the UK to Quito, theres going to be 12 of us and we're flying out around the 9th of June. Cheers

Hi, good to hear you are making your way out to Ecuador. The cheapest flights tend to be through the US on continental airlines or American airlines. However, I would have to stress that US customs are a nightmare and you are very likely to miss your connecting flight. I prefer Iberia as it is very direct, however, can be expensive. KLM sometimes offer a few discount seats for advertising purposes so try and get those early. If you need any info on things to do, email a friend of mine that is still there Joe
Whilst you are in Quito I recommend you stay at a friendly hostel thats not so pricey: Quito Hostel

Hi,

Check out www.Justtheflight.co.uk (I Think)

should give you ideas of checp flights etc.

Check out their Open Jaw options if you´re going to be returning from a different airport (say if you want to fly back from Buenos Aires in months time etc.)

Other than that... Miami seems the best option (US customs were great with us!)

Also, try flying from Madrid (Easyjet or ryan air fly there for next to nothing rather than booking the joining flight!)

Also, try going to a travel agent (since there´s so many of you) as you should be able to get a reduction.... worth asking anyway! Do it after you´ve searched the web firstly though as it´ll give you a better idea as to whether you´re getting a good deal or not

Have Fun, Ecuador´s Brilliant!

Taffski

PS As for Hostels (Hostel revolution is great... check it out on hostelworld etc. for impartial reviews etc.)

I met a few brits at my hotel. And they were telling me that there were more flights from Madrid to Ecuador. So you might want to check that out. It also might be easier for you not to go through the states. I've heard that a lot of folks had spent a lot of time at US customs. I'm a US citizen so I haven't really had to deal with queues, fingerprinting and retina scans.
