New LP S America Guide-Opinions?

Yeah thats a question that I am pondering right now as well. Seems like LP has come out with new books for the whole of SA, Peru, Bolivia etc. But everyone says that footprint is better. Who the hell knows? I dont like it that LP switched from the old easy to navigate chapter headings. But how can you resist the brand new probably most updated new guides from LP. I know Footprint comes out with a new SA guide each year but the Peru. Bolivia etc guides from footprint are a couple of years old.

We are about to do 5 months in SA and I think we are just going to take the first two country guides and pick up whatever we can find while we are down there. Hell a guide book is not the end all be all for a country anyway is it?

I have been to South America many times, and there's nothing better than the Footprint! It gets updated every year (in December, I believe), so it should be pretty up-to-date.
