Manizales

Country forums / South America / Colombia

Two questions.

Any one been to the Manizales fair. Is it worth attending or worth a pass.

Second question
What is a reliable bus company from Manizales to Medellin. Any recommendations would be great.

I've been in Manizales during the fair. I didn't specifically attend, because I had been to plenty of ferias already, and they aren't terribly different from one another. Lot's of cheap beer, Colombian music and concerts, horses, parades, and dancing. The one in Manizales is pretty big, so it's a good option if attending a feria is something that you want to do. Also, Manizales is a pretty nice town and worth a stop with or without the feria.

There is plenty of service to and from Medellin. However, if you go during the feria season, then it might be a good idea to plan ahead. Going to the terminal while you are in Medellin and buying your tickets a few days in advance, is a good idea. Just remember, there are two terminal in Medellin. Service to Manizales leaves from the south terminal, just across the highway from El Poblado. I've used these companies on several occasions:

Flota Ospina (shared van and your quickest option)

Empresa Arauca (small buses and decent company)

Here's a link to the Medellin Terminal Website:
