Hiking advice, February/March

Hello all,

I will be in Ecuador from mid-Feb to mid-March, and I'd really like to hike in the highland areas (near Otavalo, Mindo, possibly the Quilotoa Loop). I understand that this is the wet season and that all recommendations say to do this from June-Sept. However, I am wondering if it will be completely unpleasant/ not worthwhile to go during the wet months. Are some places better than others for highland hiking during that time of year?

We were there in December and had almost no rain. Hiked at Quilotoa and Cotoapaxi. It's unpredictable.

Thanks, Jean. The forecast seems to call for rain every day next week, but it's not clear if it's actually raining much.

Hi All, you folks are probably there already, I just got back. I did NOT find the amount of rain unpleasant enough to keepma home. I was in Quito and Otovalo, many days were even clear and full of sunshine. When it did rain, a good sailing jacket that I had with me from being in the Galapagos was plenty of protection. Enjoy!
