Health insurance while travelling in Arg.?

Country forums / South America / Argentina

Hello:
I'm planning an extended visit to Argentina and I'd like to know your opinion, for those that have
spend a long period of time in there, how did you deal with health matters.Did you purchase health insurance before you left the USA? Any particular one that you would like to recommend?
I'm 65 and I'd like to travel the NW and then down to Neuquen and the Lakes District.
Many thanks for your in put........caravallo

Someone I know bought Medjet insurance in the US before a trip to Argentina. Unfortunately they had to use it while there for a major emergency which included flying someone home to the US. They said it was excellent and highly recommended it.

I use STA Travel insurance. Bought some today -- $100.00 for 22 days.

I have an ongoing scheme which covers my first 45 days of travel per year - it's a very cheap option here in Finland at €44 a year, if you compare that to Scancho's $5 a day. (Sorry Sancho!)

The same kind of deal might well be available in the US.
