Hola!
Just wondered if anyone could suggest an alternative overland route to get from Uyuni in Southern Bolivia to Rio in Brazil. Going via Santa Cruz by train to the border and down to Campo Grande sounds like it will take about 4 days in total but there doesn´t seem to be another route without going through Chile, Argentina and Paraguay. If anyone out there has any suggestions, it would be great to hear them.
Many thanks.
Caroline

Hola,
you dont want to hear nothing about voegol.com.br from santa cruz to rio at Bolivianos 1.910,17, right? Well, you dont need to go overland to Chile or Argentina. Just take a bus from Santa Cruz to Asuncion. Then Asuncion-Sao Paulo, and yet another to Rio.
Alternative: Asuncion-Foz de Iguassu, and then Foz de Iguassu-Rio de Janeiro.

Hi ya,
I'll be arriving on the 4th of November 07 in Rio and want to head to Bolivia asap to avoid most of the rain. Should I be able to go this route also in Nov / dec? Is there anything worth stoping for on the way?
Where would be the best place to stay (doesn't have to be fancy but would be nice if its warm) to be able to go and see the Salt Planes of Uyuni?
has anyone gone to the salt planes in Nov / Dec? Anything in particular to watch out for?
Thanks a lot!
Julia
