Galapagos - adventure-life.com

Country forums / South America / Ecuador & the Galapagos Islands

Hi there

Im planning a trip to the Galapago next summer and, at the moment, Im pretty pleased with what GAP has to offer altought I have been told that their 10-day tour (actually 8 days) is two 4-day tours back-to-back.

Has anyone used this tour company www.adventure-life.com to do a trip to the Galapagos? In particular, Im interested in the category type 2 yachts.... can I get some recommendations on which boat to take? With a boat costing Eur1700 roughly, plus the airfare plus the national park fee, this is going to be expensive, around Eur2000.

As Im probably only going to do this trip once, Im more interested in the 10-day tour they offer and would like to see as much as I can, without doubling back if thats possible?

Do they charge a "local-payment" that is sometimes seen with other tour companies? Also, I notice the airfares are not included but can they arrange this booking at the same time I make the boat booking?

Thanks again....

I have done 2 trips with Adventure Life. The first to Belize and Guatemala and this past August I went to the Galapagos with them. I did a land based tour though. I do highly recommend traveling with Adventure Life. I had a great time on both trips. The guides were all great. The itineraries were excellent. The staff at the offices was great to deal with. I will travel with them again.

The Galapagos is an amazing place, definitely worth the price.

I did not have any local payments on either of my trips and I've not seen them mentioned in any of their brochures. I'm not sure if they can book the international flights, but I think so. They did book my internal flights (Quito to Galapagos).

Contact their office via email. They are very helpful (and not pushy about things). They will answer any of your questions.

Have a great trip!

Adventure life are a reputable company and receive good reviews, but like GAP Adventures you have to be very careful to read the small print of their galapagos trips.

For example, the 7-day galapagos trips that they offer are really only 5 days at Galapagos with 2 nights hotel accommodation in Quito. The glitzy tour info states 7days Galapagos tour, only in the small print does it state the truth. They use this trick to make their tours look more attractive than the traditional 5-day galapagos tours that most other agencies sell and to make you think that you get more time on the islands.

So a good agency but read the small print and beware these nasty tricks!

i have gone with adventure life afew times also, and have always felt they delivered well on what was promised. the nitty gritty reading is definitely a must - even with the cruises i found that the boats are the ones that control the itineraries as far as whether it is one long cruise or 2 short cruises back to back, so you have to ask about it i think. i searched through adventure life reviews though to double check on them, and that is how i was assured they were a legitimate company. i ended up doing their land tour instead of a cruise, because i wanted to be more active. it was amazing - but then i think it would be hard for something to not be amazing if you are in the galapagos!
no locals payments with adventure life either, everything was very up front and all costs i needed to anticipate when i got there were spelled out for me by email before i reserved, or they rolled them into it if i wanted (i did some other things too on top of the trip that they helped arrange).
hope you have a great trip! i wish i could go bacK!!!

I have traveled with Adventure Life twice. Most recently I did a multi-sport trip to Nicaragua. They are a fantastic company that makes traveling in Latin America seamless. The pre-departure service was impeccable (we had a number of last minutes questions and concerns), but their on-the-ground guides are what really separates the company from the herd. I recommend Adventure Life without any reservations.

Sincerely,

Adam
